The updated icon is rolling out with Chrome Canary’s latest update. On ChromeOS, the icon for the browser uses brighter, gradient-free colors to match the rest of the system icons. Meanwhile, on Windows 10 and 11, the icon has a visible gradient. The non-stable versions on iOS get an icon that is reminiscent of TestFlight and carry a Beta or Dev badge in the top left-hand side corner. The Chrome icon on macOS has colorful ribbons for the Beta and Dev builds, while the icon looks three-dimensional overall. The new icons will start to appear across your devices soon. Yes! we’re refreshing Chrome’s brand icons for the first time in 8 years. Some of you might have noticed a new icon in Chrome’s Canary update today. The designer behind the icon, Elvin, took to Twitter to explain that “we wanted our brand to convey the same level of care” as OS developers take in their offerings. Currently, Google is promoting the three experiments Reading List, Tab Scrolling and Tab Search. A click on the icon displays the available experiments at the time of writing. The most significant change is that Google has now made OS-specific tweaks. The new icon in Chrome Canary looks like a test glass. The proportions of the Chrome icon have been refined, and the colors have been brightened a tad bit. The company also has a slight gradient to the main icon because the transition from green to red was jarring - “unpleasant color vibration” in design speak. The change in 2022 has removed the shadows in the outer ring of red, yellow, and green colors, creating a flat icon. Google’s last significant change to the Chrome icon was in 2011, when it flattened the 3D logo. The company has started rolling out a minor change, optimizing the icon for various operating systems such as macOS and Windows. Google has tweaked it slightly over the years but left it untouched since 2014. Hence, the new UI could be seen in the next Canary release.The Chrome icon has become an iconic symbol by itself. However, the Chrome dev team seems committed to revamping the user experience. The current stable version of Google Chrome does have the downloads bar. Switching the color to grey after some period will be addressed in a follow-up CL.Īs evident from the GIF, the download icon is still very much a work in progress. Right now we are still showing the download shelf just for reference, but the ultimate goal is to replace the shelf with the bubble in the toolbar. Canary, chrome, google icon This is a premium icon which is suitable for commercial work: Use it commercially. Additionally, Google plans to replace the downloads bar (at the bottom of the window) with the download bubble in the toolbar, as confirmed by a comment in a patch: It is not immediately clear, but future iterations of the downloads bubble should have the same options currently available in the downloads bar, which includes Open, Show in folder, and so forth. The download icon becomes smaller and changes from grey to blue during active downloads. As previously reported, the download button changes color as well as size whenever a user downloads a file.
